FC Barcelona will play this Saturday night against Athletic Club at San Mamés, for matchday 27 of LaLiga. This will be a very important match for Hansi Flick’s team, which needs a victory to keep its four-point lead over Real Madrid at the top.
In that context, in the last few hours a surprise that Barça is preparing to face the match against the Basque side has emerged: the kit.
Changes in the original kit
Barça will wear the jersey called “Mamba Mentality”, the model that was created from the collaboration between Nike and the brand linked to Kobe Bryant.

However, it will do so with an unprecedented modification. According to the specialized account Memorabilia 1899, the blaugrana side will take the field wearing gold shorts, matching the jersey.
This is an important change from the original design of the kit, which included black shorts with purple details… a combination that in other sections of the club, such as basketball, does have regular use.
The reason for this change
The reason for this change is that Athletic Club use black shorts as part of its home kit. In other words, Barça’s original combination could match its rival’s outfit.
For that reason, the club chose to modify the kit and thus avoid similarities, guaranteeing visibility and regulatory clarity during the match.
This will be the fourth time that Flick’s team use this variant in the season. However, it is worth clarifying that it has already used the “Mamba Mentality” kit. The first time was in the 3-1 victory against Real Oviedo in LaLiga.
The second time was in London, in the 3-0 defeat against Chelsea in the Champions League. The last time was also a defeat, against Atlético de Madrid at the Metropolitano in the Copa del Rey.
In tonight’s match, Barça will have the opportunity to improve its numbers using the “Mamba Mentality”. Although, of course, it will have an important change compared to its original version.
At this time of day, the starting eleven that Flick will field for the match against Athletic is a mystery. The match against Atlético de Madrid left consequences and many players finished exhausted.
It will be necessary to see whether the German coach decides to make some rotations, taking into account the first leg against Newcastle United in the Champions League round of 16.
